The
DPS Society a non-proprietary educational body, with its more
than half century's contribution to excellence in school education,
acknowledges the teachers role to be the most vital in making
education more meaningful and joyful experience. Thus, the
society established the Institute of Higher Education, offering
a full time regular B.Ed Course of one year duration in English
Medium in co-educational style, with the affiliation of GGSIP
University and recognized by the NCTE. The Institute currently
operates from the D.P.S. R.K. Puram Campus of DPS Society.
IHE
has qualified, experienced and committed faculty, which goes
beyond the call of duty to impart quality teacher education
and development. The internal faculty is further complemented
by a galaxy of visiting eminent teacher educators from NIEPA,
CIE, Jamia, IGNOU, NCERT & CBSE. Further interactions
with renowned Principals and senior teachers of DPS Schools
throughout the year make the B.Ed Programme more realistic,
interesting as well as pragmatic. Participation in regular
continuing education programmes for the In-service Teachers
(a culture at DPS Society) run by Education Management Centre
is an added dimension. The Institute firmly believes that
preparing teachers involves a lot more than prosaic and mundane
transaction of B.Ed curriculum to the students. Thus, a flavor
macro-economic and socio-cultural issues such as Gender Equity,
Child Labor, Environment, Public Health and Hygiene etc. is
also provided.
Exposure
Visits to DPS Schools prior to Practice Teaching in DPS schools
by each and every student is effectively pursued by attaching
faculty and senior teachers with the students on one to one
basis as part of internship. The world-class facilities such
as Language Lab, Shogun Lab, Bio-Technology Lab, Well-stacked
libraries, Audio-video Library and state of the art Sports
Complex etc. provide an opportunity to gain competence and
skills in Computers, Audio-Visuals, Co-curricular Activities
and Educational Technologies. The IHE students undertake the
social responsibility of working with the so-called 'Children
of a lesser God' by undertaking Community Work Programme for
the economically deprived, educationally backward and rural
population of our country.
IHE
has had a excellent result with 100% first division to all
its students in the three previous batches. All the students
were placed in good schools in and around Delhi. The DPS society
placement cell spearheaded by Shri Narendra Kumar, Chairman
Delhi Public School Society himself, offers excellent Career
Opportunities in its 120 schools in India and abroad. The
IHE students get an opportunity to witness themselves how
'Service Before Self' as its motto accepts each and every
student as an individual and works 'Towards and Enlightened
and Humane Society'.
