The
School of humanities and Social Sciences enjoys a very special
status in the overall structure of G.G.S Indraprastha University,
Delhi. Though having a independent entity of it's own, it
straddles across other schools and co-exist with them, imbibing
and re-orienting the total thrust of technical and professional
training towards a holistic and humanistic world-view. The
very conception of this school, working in tandem with professional
and technical courses, is premised on the truism that all
such education, of necessity, has to be grounded within and
sustained by the socio-psycho-cultural and historico-humanistic
contexts, both national and global. A student has to be chiseled
as a complete being and not as an assembly-line professional
automation. The integration of Technological and Management
studies with Humanities and Social Sciences is a step forward
in this direction.
Although
the broad contours of this school- its curriculum and associated
activities- are still to emerge fully, the school has already
started functioning. At present the school is focusing on
interactive language communication strategies that these students
need in order to understand and efficiently negotiate in their
specific environment.
Another
activity that is currently being undertaken by the school
is lecture series that seeks to probe the relation between
sciences and humanities, their symbiosis and interactive evolution
through history.
The
school will soon embark on doctoral program on English literature
and Language based on research.
Dr.
Anoop Beniwal, Reader & Head, is currently co-coordinating
the activities of the school.
