INFORMATION
TECHNOLOGY has emerged as the most powerful tool for all round
development of the world today and has been recognized as
a driving force for the next century. Indian IT is booming
and emerging steadily on top of the global information technology
market. The IT industry in India is already a major drive
of the Indian economy. IT will make remarkable changes in
social, cultural, scientific, technological and economic fields
in the 21st century. Information Technology has become an
integral part of our life and no section of society can afford
to ignore its impact and advantages. The importance of IT
has grown manifold in the new competitive and global scenario
of the world and it has to discover new horizons of its applications
affecting everyone's life in times to come
The
SCHOOL of Information Technology has been established to design
and implement courses with a twin objective of generating
effective professionals and to keep pace with the R& D activities
of this fast emerging and changing field of Information Technology.
The school offers three program namely Masters in Software
Engineering (MSE) which is a three year course (six semesters)
after 10+2+3 and M.Tech (Integrated) Information Technology
which is a five and half year course after 10+2 with an option
of graduating with a B.Tech degree at the end of four years
and M.Tech (IT) Weekend Program (3 year program). The launch
of these program probably the first in India is a step towards
incorporation of knowledge, thinking and latest trends in
Information technology and satellite based interactive tools
in the field of computer education
SCHOOL'S
PHILOSOPHY AND PEDAGOGY
The
school has been established to design and implement courses
with aim of imparting qualitative education. The School also
emphasizes the need to keep up with the latest developments
in the field by constantly upgrading the syllabus. The school
believes in close coordination with the industry on perpetual
basis which keeps it abreast with the ever changing scenario
of the IT industry.
The
school aims at inculcating essential skills as demanded by
the global software industry, through the interactive learning
process. This includes team-building skills, audio-visual
presentations and personality development program. These enhance
analytic and communication skills, besides inculcating the
virtues of self-study.

AREAS
The
School was set up with an aspiration to generate manpower,
with the ability to take on challenges and fare forward in
the realm of information technology. The Curriculum has been
designed to cater to the ever changing demands of information
technology, with the necessary inputs from the Industry. The
School has highly qualified & experienced faculty who excel
in their respective areas. The School also encourages research
work in various areas of information technology. The school
aspires to produce individuals e-equipped to contribute for
progress at all levels: individual, national and global. The
School is doing all necessary for the placement of its students
like it organized University Industry Meet where representatives
from the industries like TCS, IBM, HCL Info-systems, CMC,
VSNL, XANSA etc exchanged their views & ideas .The School
has been granted the status of CISCO Regional Networking Academy
for Delhi State leading the students for CISCO certification
and also signed a long term MOU with IBM India Ltd. for training
latest IBM Softwares to students & faculty , from time to
time.

ADMISSION
PROCEDURE
The
students are admitted through a National Level Common Entrance
Examination for each course. The exam for M.C.A tests for
Mathematical Logical and Analytical skills of the students
and the M.Tech. examination tests for Physics, Chemistry &
Mathematics. The School of Information Technology has been
the choice of top rankers in these examinations. Admissions
for M.Tech. (IT) Weekend program is done through Merit.
INDUSTRY
COLLABORATION
The
School of Information Technology at GGS Indraprastha University
has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with following organizations.
CISCO
SYSTEMS Inc.
School
of Information Technology has been granted the status of CISCO
Regional Networking Academy for North India. The courses at
GGS Indraprastha University have been modified accordingly,
preparing the students for CISCO certification.
IBM
INDIA Ltd.
The
company provides the faculty training in IBM Softwares like
DB2, Visual Age for JAVA, Web Sphere Application Server etc.,
from time to time.
