MISSION
We, at the School of Management Studies,
strive to prepare management professional for the new era
of technology enabled business across the globe.
The
business world today is more complex, dynamic and ever demanding
then before. Computers, information-technology, liberalization
and globalization all together are shipping our businesses
and lives at an inconceivably fast pace. the technologies
are heavy, the challenges are many. with this pursuit on hand
the school of management studies has designed management programs
to suit dynamic and responsive business and management milieu.
these programs strive to inculcate an integration of information
technology with the core study of management through its on
campus MBA programs in E-commerce, International Marketing
and Computer Aide Management.
The
School of Management Studies (SMS) was established in 1998
with a view to provide a platform for pursuing academic excellence
in various fields of management studies. S.M.S has been dedicated
to pursuing its aim of nurturing outstanding managers who
can dawn the mantle of higher managerial responsibilities.
The school's philosophy is to provide a platform for pursuing
academic excellence in the varied fields of management studies.
through inter disciplinary integration of practices of management;
SMS offers three post graduate programs namely:
- MBA
(E-Commerce) (first time in an Indian University)
- MBA
(International Marketing)
- MBA
(Computer Aided Management)
The
relevance and usefulness of these programs is brought out
by their pragmatic and innovative combination of the theories
and practices of management with those of information technology.
Such an interdisciplinary integration helps in inculcating
a sense of strategic prospective necessary for effective and
incisive decision making.
The
School of Management Studies strives to embody and usher in
a new concept in the field of business studies in India. It
offers multi programmed post graduate business study programs,
encapsulating the spirit and needs of the time. The relevance
and usefulness of these programs is underlined by their pragmatic
and innovative yoking together of the theories and practices
of management with those of information technology. Such an
interdisciplinary integration aims at achieving and inculcating
in the students a strategic perspective and edge necessary
for effective and incisive decision making within an ever-fluid
Indian business and industry scenario. The School offers an
interactive learning process through spontaneity in teacher-student
relationship. The skills imparted here are in conformity with
those demanded by the ever-changing corporate expectations.
The industrial exposure vitally supports the honing of the
budding managers and provides them with the cutting edge know-how,
a primary prerequisite of the new age manager.
The
process of admission of students at SMS is rigorous and scientifically
designed to ensure quality intake of students. A written admission
test is conducted on All India basis. The committee of experts
evaluates the students in group discussions and personal interview.
Finally, the list of students selected is drawn on the basis
of overall merit.
THE
SCHOOL STRATEGY FOR THE FUTURE
E-Retailing,
Electronic-Finance, Electronic-Banking, Electronic -Advertising,
E-Branding, ERP implementation are becoming the buzzwords
of the day. Incorporation of these developments in the structure
of our existing programs would be the basis for the future
expansion of the school. It is reliably estimated that the
service sector in India would contribute nearly two-thirds
of our gross Domestic Product by the close of 2020. Hence,
the School is shortly planning to launch a service-sector
focused academic program that may provide manpower to meet
the needs of this much diversified sector of the economy.
It would cover Travel & Tourism, Journalism, Hotels, techno-financial
cum management consultancy, Airlines & other modes of transportation,
health & hospitals, Readymade garments, art & culture etc.
SCHOOL-INDUSTRY
INTERFACE
One
of the key foci of the School is on fostering closer interactions
with trade and industry. The school strongly believes in imparting
knowledge and training to the students which can be applied
in practice and has relevance to the business firms. With
this objective in mind, the school invites professionals and
practitioners for delivering special lectures to the students.
Workshops, symposia and conventions are organized at regular
intervals to expose the students to the rigorous of real day
business life and changing market environment. A placement
cell consisting of a Placement Advisor (faculty member) and
six student's representatives is responsible for looking after
the training and placement requirement of the school.
